About Word on the Streets

Our Mission

Deona Freeman is a multifaceted powerhouse in the music industry, holding key roles

as CEO, A&R specialist, Program Director, Manager, and Promoter, with an additional

responsibility as FleetDJsGA State Manager. Her expertise lies in assisting

artists and businesses with promotion, coordination, event hosting, and strategic

planning. Deona excels in cultivating audience engagement and fostering community

connections for brands across all age groups.

Before founding her own company, Word on the Street LLC, Deona honed her skills as

an R&B artist, freelance writer, and owner of the magazine I AM ME. This experience

proved instrumental in propelling local artists and businesses in Albany, GA, to broader

recognition beyond Southwest Georgia. Deona's journey also includes managing a DJ

Tremayne Gibson and Ole-E Street Team, where she immersed herself in club business

and bartending, solidifying her passion for people and expanding her horizons in

Atlanta, GA, and Albany, Ga.

A pivotal turning point occurred when Deona connected with influential figures like

Street Sweepa and Lady Vee, leading to her roles as their promoter, head street team

member, host, and current manager for YO! ATL RAPS on Comcast Peopletv and the

YO! ATL RAPS VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS in Atlanta, GA. Her successful career extends

to key positions, such as head A&R for Ruthless Killa Records, Program Director for

Under the Radar Radio, Assistant Program Director for B96theBlock ATL Radio and

A&R for Nuage Distribution. Deona also served as the brand ambassador for Islandjon

Vodka, Revanche and now CITYNYTES Vodka.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Deona actively contributes to her community in

Albany, GA, participating in initiatives such as Black Lives Matter and collaborating with

local businesses and churches to support the homeless. She organized her inaugural

industry mixer in Albany, GA, titled "It’s Time to Learn the Music Business" featuring

industry luminaries like Vega Don of Wu-Tang Management, Shamika Bottom of Wu-

Tang Radio, Bj Bowman of The Southern Playas, Jerry Gipson Jr CEO of Ruthless Killa

Records, and Corelone the Don, VP of Global Powerhouse Music and Corelone

Records. The mixer provided local artists with valuable insights into the music industry,

including guidance on registering their music correctly and understanding the pivotal

role of DJs. Deona has now founded a new management company called Younique

Management. She currently represents three artists: the legendary platinum-selling

group The Southern Playas, Prince Rahiem, and rising talent Jay Precise.
